With its 15th anniversary coming up in 2009, 55DSL is ready to celebrate
its success as a streetwear label known for its dynamic combination of
aesthetics and attitude. Full of contradictions—thrill-seeking but laid-back,
provocative but good-humored—this is a brand that thrives on high-energy
performance and the art of having a good time, spreading the message to
“live at least 55 seconds per day.” 55DSL’s iconic Shield logo has stood fast
over the years as a symbol of its commitment to life in the fast lane. Now
it’s time for the Logo Remix, a competition to see who can produce the
freshest take on what already exists.

The Challenge
Revamp the 55DSL Shield logo, spinning it into a visual remix that reflects
55DSL’s culture and spirit.

The Loot
1,055 euros and a T-shirt featuring your design in 55DSL’s 2010 Spring/Summer
collection (Grand Prize), or a special 55DSL goodie bag filled with limited edition
items from 55DSL (People’s Choice Prize).

For your design(s) to be considered, you should reinterpret the Shield logo and
represent 55DSL’s identity as an experimental and innovative brand, considering
the graphic design, urban culture, extreme sports, and music influences that have
always been at the heart of the label’s fun-loving, nonconformist attitude. It’s a
challenge, but challenges are what you live for. So get funky, go wild, and deliver
some thrills.

During the contest period, all submitted designs will be showcased in a permanent
online gallery on the Cut&Paste website for public viewing, commenting, and voting.
The contestant whose design receives the most votes will be named the winner of
the People’s Choice Prize. The Grand Prize winner will be selected by distinguished
panel of eight international judges, ranging from acclaimed graffiti artist Emit to
55DSL’s creative director Andrea Rosso, and a creative panel from 55DSL. Both
winners will be featured in the online gallery as part of Cut&Paste’s permanent
collection of competitive work.

The 55DSL Logo Remix is open to anyone 18 years or older.
All entries must be submitted by December 5, 2008.
Online voting will remain open through December 12, 2008.
Winners of the Grand Prize and People’s Choice Prize will be announced in
January 2009.
